Brant Point Area Experiencing Strong Odor due to Seaweed Decomposition

The odor being experienced at Brant Point, Cliff Road, North Liberty and surrounding areas is caused by seaweed that is decomposing along the beach on the harbor side of Jetties.

North and NE winds are causing this odor to extend inland.

Smith's Point - Now Open to Oversand Vehicle Traffic

Smith's Point is now open to oversand vehicle traffic due to the fledging of protected shorebird species.

A Town beach driving sticker is required to drive on Smith's Point and all dogs must be leashed. Tire pressure should be reduce to between 12 and 15 psi. Beach conditions change daily so please be vigilant while visiting.

Only sightings from reliable sources (Lifeguards, ATV operators, Nantucket Police, Nantucket Fire or sources deemed reliable by Marine Division Supervisors) will be considered verified and confirmed.
