Volunteer Opportunities for Our Island Home

Our Island Home is excited to start welcoming back volunteers into the facility. This is a sign of brighter days ahead, not only for our residents, for our community as a whole.

As with everything, there will be changes to our volunteer program.  These changes are to ensure the safety of our Residents, Staff, and Volunteers.  Please review the update volunteer requirements below:

  • Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older
  • Volunteers must be fully vaccinated (two weeks post 2nd vaccination)
  • Volunteers will be required to wear mask and goggles at all times while in the facility and follow all OIH Infection control protocol
  • Volunteers must follow surveillance guidelines for each shift worked
  • Volunteers will be surveillance tested along with all staff members as outlined by DPH guidelines
  • Volunteers will be required to have a CORI (background check) completed

Our Volunteers, working under the direction of our Activities Director, will spend time playing bingo, conducting small group activities, one-on-one visits, assisting with passing of nutrition/hydration cart, and possibly assist with visitation check ins.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer at Our Island Home, please contact:
