Transportation Planning
The Nantucket Planning and Economic Development (NP&EDC) supports transportation planning from a regional perspective. Its staff facilitate a Continuing, Comprehensive, and Cooperative (3C) transportation planning process with local, state, and federal partners to maintain Nantucket’s federal and state aid funding eligibility. NP&EDC staff also undertake transportation planning studies and provide technical assistance to the Town of Nantucket. Learn on the pages linked below.

August 21, 2023 | A federally required fiscally constrained long-range planning document updated every four years, that guides major transportation investments for at least the next 20 years, or 2050 for this planning cycle. This plan describes the region’s vision, goals, and implementation strategies. It also describes the current conditions and desired future transportation system. | |
May 22, 2023 | The TIP is a fiscally constrained listing of federal and state funded regional transportation projects for the next 5 years. This document is federally required, and includes both roadway and transit projects, which ultimately are programmed in the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program, or STIP. | |
June 26, 2023 | A fiscally constrained listing of federal and state funded regional transportation planning activities for the upcoming year. This federally required programming document is updated annually, and includes all administrative, data collection, analytical, planning, and implementation activities for the year. These activities must align with federal, state, and local vision, goals, and priorities. | |
March 20, 2017 | A plan for collecting public input on the NP&EDC’s transportation planning documents. | |
