Approximately 75 community members and stakeholders attended the first public meeting of the Nantucket and Madaket Harbors Action Plan update, which occurred on June 5, 2023 from 6 – 8 PM at The Nantucket Hotel.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Town of Nantucket and the Urban Harbors Institute at UMass Boston delivered a presentation which provided context for the plan update, a description of the 2009 Nantucket and Madaket Harbors Action Plan, and the process for updating the 2009 Plan. Following the presentation, the attendees self-selected breakout groups to attend. At these breakout groups, attendees provided input on issues they are facing in the harbors and possible recommendations to address the issues. Breakout group topics included:
