Please be aware that by Massachusetts State Law ALL tax bills are due on or before the due date listed on the bill. Allow for mailing time, bills are considered paid on the date they are received by the Tax Office we DO NOT go by postmark.

The first quarter preliminary real estate and personal property tax bills will be issued on July 1, 2022 and will be due on August 1, 2022. The second quarter preliminary tax bills will be issued October 1, 2022 and will be due on November 1, 2022. Preliminary tax bills generally represent one half of the prior fiscal year's total tax. The annual tax rate and new assessed values will be set in December 2021 and will be reflected on the "actual" tax bill issued January 1, 2023.

The third quarter tax bills will be issued on January 1, 2023 and will be due February 1, 2023. The fourth quarter tax bills will be issued on April 3, 2023 and will be due on May 3, 2023.

There is a dropbox available for payments at 37 Washington Street. The lockbox is mounted through the wall and is under the porch in the corner.

All checks must be made to the Town of Nantucket. Altered checks will be returned to the maker. Please use only blue or black ink. 

By state law, interest is charged on any and all late payments - even bills that have never been received.

Please notify us if your billing address has changed or you are a new property owner.

  • Retain copies of all contracts executed by the town and county.
