Council on Aging

The Massachusetts Council on Aging has established a Re-opening Taskforce Advisory Council.

The council will serve as an advisory group to contribute to, review and comment on a proposed framework to guide the re-opening of councils on aging and senior centers. It will create guidance that COAs can tailor to their own communities as they progress toward re-opening.

The MCOA team leading this project includes Board President Beck Moriarty, Director of Behavioral Support Betsy Connell, Director of Member Services Susan Carp and Director of Member Services-Nutrition Tara Hammes. Additionally, three student interns from the UMass School of Public Health and Health Sciences will be participating. Nantucket’s Human Services Director, Jerico Mele, has also been invited to serve on this advisory council and will ensure that Nantucket’s unique perspective is recognized. We look forward to an eventual reopening of Nantucket’s COA and senior center that responsibly balances public health and senior needs!
