Its Mission
The primary purpose of the pre-disaster Hazard Mitigation Plan is to identify natural hazards and risks, existing capabilities, and activities that can be undertaken by a community to prevent loss of life and reduce property damages associated with the identified hazards. The plan is relevant not only in emergency management situations, but also should be used within the community's land use, environmental, and capital improvement programs. This plan is submitted for review by the Federal Emergency management Agency (FEMA). Updates are made and submitted to FEMA every 5 years and the community must review and revise the existing plan annually with any changes.
